The Jewish Folk Chorus of San Francisco is in our 100th season of singing Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian, and Ladino songs for audiences in the Bay Area. Currently our chorus consists of two overlapping groups. The full chorus, led by our conductor Lisa Sargent with accompaniment by Inara Morgenstern, sings Jewish folk and contemporary pieces arranged in multi-part harmonies with two or three performances a year. Regular rehearsals are held each week in San Francisco.
From Generation to Generation -- Our 100th Annual Concert!
Celebrating 100 Years of The Jewish Folk Chorus of San Francisco
Sunday, June 14th at 2pm, at the Jewish Community Highschool of the Bay
The Jewish Folk Chorus of San Francisco is celebrating its 100th birthday with a program of songs chosen from our many exuberant years of singing. Adding to a variety of historic favorites, we’ll perform music written by some of the dynamic new composers of today. Our multimedia concert will take place on Sunday, June 14th, at 2 PM at the Jewish Community High School of the Bay.
Under the direction of Lisa Sargent, with piano accompaniment by Inara Morgenstern, and featuring appearances by some special guests, we will bring you songs of solidarity, labor, humor, love, protest, and peace, sung in Yiddish, Hebrew, Ladino, Russian, and English. Come join us as we mark this joyous anniversary!

Our chorus is a community partner for the up-coming play, Our Class in SF at Z Space.
We believe that this theatrical production will provide a powerful touchpoint for connection, dialogue, and Jewish storytelling that may be of interest our community.Join our friends at Z Space and Arlekin Players for a bold new production of Tadeusz Słobodzianek’s Our Class. The play follows ten classmates — five Jewish and five Catholic Poles — who grow up as friends and neighbors, then find themselves pitted against each other in the face of entrenched antisemitism, with life and death consequences. Inspired by real life events surrounding a 1941 pogrom in a small Polish village, this shocking, timely story follows their lives from childhood through eight decades.
