Here is some basic information about how the chorus functions and how you can be a part of our group. If you have any questions, ask us.
We rehearse every Tuesday from 7:30-9:30pm at Menorah Park, 3365 Sacramento St., SF (see map). Our rehearsal season is from September to June.
We start rehearsals close to the High Holidays and do not rehearse when a holiday falls on a Tuesday. Each rehearsal begins with warm-ups for several minutes, followed by gratifying work on five or six songs per evening. Mid-way through the rehearsal, we take a short break to relax and, most importantly, shmooze with friends.
Most of the songs we sing are done in four-part harmony: soprano, alto, tenor and bass. If you don't know your voice range, you can ask the conductor during your first rehearsal. To get you acclimated to the chorus, you will be assigned a "buddy" when you first join, who will do their best to answer your questions and show you the ropes.
Upon joining, you will be given a book containing the sheet music of our repertoire for the season.
